About

Welcome! I'm Cara, a self-proclaimed foodie and city girl. Born and bred in Chicago by an artistically-inclined family, I found myself needing a creative outlet of my own ~ and hence started City Girl Chicago in 2009.  The blog has evolved with time but my interests remain the same, and here I share my love of living a city life, and in particular, my love for the exploration of food.  A wise man once told me "Life is too short to drink bad wine", and I've since embraced this philosophy as my own.  I believe that those who enjoy good food also enjoy good company, and so I hope you'll join me at this metaphorical table!

The City Girl Chicago mission: City Girl Chicago is above all else, a place to learn about the world of food, in Chicago's culinary scene and beyond.  My mission is to provide content that is interesting, helpful, stimulating, and always fun to peruse; so that you and I both are learning and exploring the vast world of food together ~ one week at a time.  I post on Fridays so that I have time to put thought and energy into each article, and am bringing the most valuable content to the table.  Subscribing to the weekly Friday email is a great way to stay informed.

The fine print: Unless otherwise specified, all content and photographs on this site were created by me.

I do my absolute best to link back to photos found from other sources, both via click-throughs and image credit listings. Feel free to use photos and recipes from this site, but please link back to this blog as your source.

All opinions are my own and are never bought.  I normally prefer the policy of "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" ~ so most of my reviews are glowing because I choose to bring my readers the best of my experiences, not gripe about the worst.  When I accept dining at gratis the arrangement includes the caveat that if I have a poor experience I will write nothing at all.  My loyalty is to bring articles with integrity and helpful information to my readers ~ first, foremost, and always.
