OMG Crock Pot Ribs

[via]
These ribs are so good I've coined them "OMG Ribs".  Because that's what I was proclaiming as I gobbled down this meal.  I broke out my slow cooker recently (as there's now a chill in the Chicago air), and I'm a bit obsessed.  I'm thinking a slow-cook meal once a week is a definite must.  I know I'm stating the obvious to many, but if you haven't gotten on the slow cook bandwagon you absolutely must give it a try!  What is not to love about throwing ingredients in the pot, letting them simmer all day while you enjoy the aromas filling your home, and then sitting down to a tasty meal that tastes like you slaved for hours?

OMG Ribs {aka Korean Ribs}
from Make it Fast, Cook it Slow
Serves 4

ingredients::
4 lbs ribs (I used beef flank ribs, but short ribs work too)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup gluten-free soy sauce
1/2 cup water
5 whole jalapeno peppers

preparation::
In a 6-quart or larger slow cooker, put the ribs in the pot.  Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, water, and whole jalapenos (don't cut them! leave them whole).
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, flipping once.  If you're out of the house all day, flip them when you get home so the other side of the ribs gets saturated while you change your clothes and set the table.  Serve with rice and veggies.

OMG!

In the picture it looks like there is a crust on the ribs. Did you do anything after the crockpot to get a crust?

Are these really spicy? Not sure if my kids would eat!

Ok. I made these today.

1. The flavor was great.
2. They fall of the bone so readily, I would be tempted to just do this with a roast rather than paying the extra money for ribs...and they would probably be a bit leaner.
3. I'm not totally sure what you did to make them crispy and barbeque saucy looking in the picture because mine came out more looking like steamed meat - no crust.

I would definitely use this marinade again as it is a delicious, Asian kick for meat - and a great sauce for slow cooking...just not sure I would do it this exact way (I did follow the recipe to the T - which I think everyone should do before tearing it apart)

Can I cook this on high and will leaving out the jalapeƱos mess the taste up? I have a kid so I want him to be able to eat it also. Thanks!

I made these today and they were delicious, I did put them in a baking pan for a few minutes under the broiler to make them a little crispy..my husband loved them. Thanks for the recipe!

I made this tonight and it was excellent. After making the ribs, I drained the marinade into a sauce pan, boiled to "de-germ" the sauce and mixed it with flour and butter to create a BBQ sauce. I put the ribs in a baking dish with the sauce for 25 minutes to brown and crust. It was delicious!! I shredded the meat and served with wild rice and broccoli as an Asian bowl dish. Highly recommend it and super easy!!

I made these this weekend minus the peppers. Everyone agreed they were yummy. I made them with country style pork ribs and also made the gravy with a little bbq sauce and browned them under the broiler for about 5 mins. They were so good. Next time I will only cook them for 6 hrs instead of 8 so they don't fall about though.

I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I both agree this is BY FAR one of the BEST meals I have choked from a recipe on pinterest. We usually try 5 new recipes a week. This was amazing. Came out looking exactly like your photo. Btw this recipe is kid friendly my 11 month old loved it! served with white rice & steamed broccoli! Thanks for the new recipe. We will be using this in our meal rotation regularly
